Walk 5 - New Radnor to Llandrindod Wells.

Meet at Llandrindod Railway Station at 08.45 to catch the 09.00 bus to New Radnor (Fare extra)

15 Miles

This walk starts in the village of New Radnor with a steady climb up The Great Ros, at approximately 2,000ft the highest hill in Radnorshire. The walk then proceeds over the hills where there are excellent views of Mid-Wales and the Brecon Beacons. After 11 miles there will be a pub stop at the Severn Arms, Penybont and walkers will then have the choice of being transported back to Llandrindod Wells or walking the remaining 4 miles along country lanes.

Walk 6 - Howey Pub Walk

Meet at Llandrindod Lake at 10am

This walk gives views over the Ithon Valley and across the Wye valley. It includes Bank Farm and the Golf Course and then goes down to the village of Howey for a pub lunch. The walk then goes to the 13th century church at Disserth and then returns to Llandrindod Wells over level country. There are two short climbs.

Walk 7 - Walk the Talk
Drovers Roads

Meet at Llandrindod Railway Station at 10.45 to catch the 11.07 bus to Larch Grove (Fare extra)

From Larch Grove, following what is believed a drovers route, towards Howey, passing a ruined building, which is thought to have once been an Inn. In Howey the Drovers Arms is now a Tai Wan Restaurant. Returning to Llandrindod Wells we pass Llandrindod Hall and finish at the Lake.

Walk 8 - Rhayader to Llandrindod Wells

Meet at Llandrindod Railway Station at 09.15 to catch the 09.30 bus to Rhayader (Fare extra)

This walk starts at Rhayader car park and follows the Wye Valley Walk south through country lanes and farmland crossing over the Elan river at it's confluence with the River Wye by the suspension bridge at Glyn Farm, and then a stiff climb of 1,200ft over Craig Allt-y-Bont, passing through Llanwrthwl and on to Newbridge on Wye. Then following a possible drovers' road to Disserth and sheep pastures back into Llandrindod Wells.

Walk 9 - Eastern Uplands
(Access Land)

Meet at Llandrindod Lake at 10am

5 Miles

Up to the trig point (1200ft) and descending to the valley by Bank House. Another ascent to the access land. Then down to Lower Llanoley and up to a permissive route near Pantpurlais. Returning to the Lake via The Dingle and woodland paths.

Walk 10 - Shaky Bridge

Meet at Llandrindod Lake
at 2pm

5 Miles

This walk climbs gently to Bongam Bank (1,000ft) with views over the Ithon valley. It then descends through farm land to the Ithon and follows the river through a nature reserve to Shaky Bridge. It then continues through Happy Valley and finishes with a climb over the ridge (1,200ft) and back to the start. The final climb is short but quite strenuous.

Walk 11 - Town Green Walk

Meet at Llandrindod Lake at 2pm

2.5 Miles

 

This is a gentle stroll in and around the outskirts of Llandrindod Wells, including the Rock Spa, with a guide who will describe all the places of interest.

Please note that the bus times indicated are correct at the time of writing.
Pre-registration is desirable, the Festival Information Centre at the Lakeside
will be open from 08.30 on each day of the festival.
Walkers participate in the Festival at their own risk.
